Albright College was founded in 1856 and has been located on 118 acres in the College Heights neighborhood of Reading since 1929. \; Recognized as one of the Best Regional Colleges in the Northeastern United States\, Albright has been an important anchor in our community. \;
\n\nRecently\, many colleges in Pennsylvania and throughout the Northeastern states in particular have faced a series of challenges. \; After peaking in 2010 at 18.1 million students\, college enrolled in the United States declined to 15.4 million in 2021. \; The number of young college age students continues to decline. \; The birthrate in the United States fell by 23% between 2007 and 2022\, forecasting a continuing challenge for colleges and universities. \; Combined with the Covid Pandemic and the recent issues with the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) have exacerbated these challenges. \; Several colleges have closed\, the State System of Higher Education has consolidated several campuses and other colleges are facing enrollment challenges.
