SUMMARY:Berks Alliance Community Forum: Berks Nature and The Nature Place
DESCRIPTION:Berks Nature and The Nature Place\n\n\n\nBerks Nature is the leading agent for environmental conservation and preservation in Berks County. They believe that nature is essential to our quality of life\, and they work at the stewardship and protection of the important natural resources of our county. They are the stewards of over 10\,000 acres protected through conservation easements\, and the owner of another 1000 acres and manager of 27 miles of trails across the region. Its impact is evident you only have to look.\n\n\n\nIn addition to its work preserving the environment\, Berks Nature offers an array of educational opportunities\, each grounded in the importance of interacting with nature. They operate 9 community gardens in the city\, engaging local residents in growing food and enhancing their connection to their neighborhoods as well as nature. Preserving the land also entails protecting our water resources. Berks Nature supports regional programs to ensure that these water resources are defended and enhanced.\n\n\n\nPerhaps the most significant recent development at Berks Nature has been the expansion of The Nature Place located in the 100 acres of Angelica Park. The Nature Place is a terrific community asset\, highlighting how buildings can interact with nature. The Nature Place is an LEED Gold certified facility\, meaning that it embodies environmental stewardship. And it is home to Berks Nature's educational programs.
