The Family Business Alliance Q4 2025 Program will continue our deep dive into the FBA Principles, with this session focusing on Preparing for the Future by evaluating critical legal strategies and long-term compensation strategies for family-owned businesses.

Laurel Cline | Herbein + Company
Laurel Cline is a seasoned human resources professional with more than 30 years of experience spanning multiple facets of HR. Prior to joining our team, she served as Director of Human Resources for Morgan Corporation, then North America’s leading manufacturer of small- to mid-size truck bodies. In that position, Laurel was responsible for all aspects of the creation and delivery of HR services (compensation, benefits, training and development, recruitment, employee relations and EEO/AA) for the corporate headquarters and the six regional manufacturing facilities for over 1,200 employees.
Laurel also worked for a premier national financial institution in various roles, including Employment Manager, Regional Salary and Benefits Administration Manager, Corporate Compensation Manager and Merger Integration Specialist. In addition to general management and HR knowledge, Laurel’s functional areas of specialization include compensation (executive, incentive, and base pay) HR policies and procedures and HR outsourcing. She works with a diverse client base that spans higher education, manufacturing, financial services and nonprofit organizations.
Laurel was named to the 2023 Circle of Excellence as part of the Lehigh Valley Business’ Women of Influence awards for her professional achievements and contributions. She is proud to serve on a local not-for-profit board.
Brian Boland | Kozloff Stoudt
Brian F. Boland brings more than 35 years of experience in estate planning, estate administration, and business law, with a particular focus on helping family-owned businesses plan for the future. As head of Kozloff Stoudt’s Estate Planning and Administration Department, Brian guides families through the complex process of succession planning, ensuring that businesses transition smoothly from one generation to the next while protecting both family harmony and financial security.
His work spans all aspects of estate and business planning, from structuring trusts and ownership transfers to addressing tax and Medicaid considerations. Brian is known for helping clients balance personal goals with business realities, so that the legacy they’ve built continues to thrive for generations.
In addition to his succession planning work, Brian advises school districts, municipalities, and businesses across Berks, Lebanon, and Lancaster Counties. He frequently writes and lectures for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and the Center for Excellence in Local Government and has prepared instructional materials and seminars for organizations throughout the region. He currently serves as President Elect of the Pennsylvania School Boards Solicitors Association.
Outside his legal practice, Brian is deeply engaged in the community. He has served as President of the Northeast Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Board of Directors and co-founded the Cystic Fibrosis Fund of Berks County. He also serves on the Reading Hospital Foundation Board, Alvernia University’s Total Experience Learning advisory committee, and the Governor Mifflin Business Council, while volunteering with the Hope Rescue Mission and other organizations.
