All About Albright
Albright College was founded in 1856 and has been located on 118 acres in the College Heights neighborhood of Reading since 1929. Recognized as one of the Best Regional Colleges in the Northeastern United States, Albright has been an important anchor in our community.
Recently, many colleges in Pennsylvania and throughout the Northeastern states in particular have faced a series of challenges. After peaking in 2010 at 18.1 million students, college enrolled in the United States declined to 15.4 million in 2021. The number of young college age students continues to decline. The birthrate in the United States fell by 23% between 2007 and 2022, forecasting a continuing challenge for colleges and universities. Combined with the Covid Pandemic and the recent issues with the federal financial aid form (FAFSA) have exacerbated these challenges. Several colleges have closed, the State System of Higher Education has consolidated several campuses and other colleges are facing enrollment challenges.
Albright is addressing these challenges. Join us to learn how. Thomas Chaves ‘85, the Vice President for Advancement and an Albright College graduate, will share how Albright College is planning for the future.
