Bethany Children’s Home To Appoint Deputy CEO as Chief Executive Officer
Womelsdorf, PA – March 23, 2026 – Bethany Children’s Home announced in October 2025 that Nick Hill, currently Deputy Chief Executive Officer, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2026. Hill will succeed Dr. Joseph Birli who has led the organization for the past six years.
“Though change can be difficult, transitioning from Bethany as the 15th President/CEO brings new adventures for my professional and personal journey,” said Dr. Joseph Birli. “It has been an honor and privilege to be part of the legacy of healing for youth who are fortunate to participate in all that Bethany has to offer. It is with this in mind that I am confident in passing the torch of exceptional leadership to Mr. Nick Hill. He has been preparing for this role for most of his career and is ready to take the helm. Nick is more than prepared to steer the Bethany ship into the future of uncharted waters.”
Hill earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Southern New Hampshire University and a graduate certificate in leadership of nonprofit organizations. He is also a Human Services Board-Certified Practitioner as well as a Certified Non-Profit Executive and currently serves as Board President of the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance along with other local board memberships.
Hill joined Bethany Children’s Home in 2014 as a Cottage Support Staff and advanced through the organization to Deputy CEO | CHRO in 2024. During his tenure, the organization has maintained an excellent compliance record, with no building citations for any program in the past six years. The first year of zero citations occurred when he was appointed Director of Operations.
Since assuming oversight of the Human Resources department, there have also been no citations from the Office of Children Youth and Families inspection. Hill was recognized as the organization’s Leader of the Year in 2021, published in Maquis Who’s Who in America, received Bethany’s first President’s Award in 2024 and was named one of the Top 100 People by PA Business Central.
Hill successfully planned and executed the re-launch of Bethany’s emergency shelter program and played a key role in writing and developing program descriptions that helped secure the organization’s Specialized Settings Certifications.
“Bethany’s mission has endured for generations because it has always placed people at the center of its work. My vision is to build upon that foundation by strengthening our team, deepening community partnerships, and advancing innovative programs so that Bethany Children’s Home continues to change lives for generations to come, said Hill.”
